Renowned Kannywood actor Sadiq Sani Sadiq has made it clear that his primary reason for being in the film industry is to earn a living, not to serve as a moral guide or educator.

During an interview with Freedom Radio, Sadiq emphasized that he does not see himself as someone responsible for teaching values through his films.

“I have never claimed to educate people. I, Sadiq Sani Sadiq, have never said that my goal is to spread awareness or instill morals. Moral teachings start at home, and religious scholars provide guidance. I am in this industry to make money, not to educate,” he stated.

He also pointed out that cinema transcends religion and language, and its impact depends on how filmmakers present their work.

“If a child watches my film and their moral values are affected, that is not my responsibility—it is the parents’. Even if they don’t watch Hausa films, they will still be exposed to Indian movies or Western music videos featuring romantic scenes,” he added.

Addressing the claim that women in Kannywood earn more than men, Sadiq acknowledged that some actresses do make higher earnings than some actors. However, he stressed that financial status is personal and should not be judged solely by visible displays of wealth.

“Yes, there are women who earn more than some men in the industry. But wealth is private. Just because someone drives luxury cars or wears expensive jewelry doesn’t necessarily mean they are the richest,” he concluded.
