Insurance begin FA Cup challenge in Lafia

The 2023 Federation Cup champions Bendel Insurance FC will take on NLO side Dandidi Babes FC of Jigawa State in the round of 64 of this year’s FA Cup on Wednesday (today).
Coach Greg Ikhenoba’s side flew from Owerri, Imo State on Monday for the game in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The Benin Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors on Sunday on match day 29 of the Nigeria Premier Football League in Umuahia and will be hoping to bounce back with a win against Dandidi.
Speaking ahead the FA Cup tie, Insurance captain Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi said the team is in high spirits and eager to make up for the recent defeat.
“We know that Federation Cup is a different ball game but we are not going to leave any stone unturned in Lafia. We got the Confederation Cup ticket in 2023 through the FA Cup. So we are not going to joke with this competition. We are taking it as a final game,” he said
“We know the task, nobody wants to lose. We are not even happy with the position we find ourselves in the league. The FA Cup provides the opportunity to be among the best in the country and we are ready to take it. Amateur sides are always difficult but we will not relent.”
