Jigawa LG buys Sallah cloth for 600 orphans

The Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State has purchased 100 bundles of fabric for distribution to 600 male orphans for the forthcoming Sallah celebration.

This initiative, according to the chairman of the council, Prof Abdurrahman Lawan, aims to enable the beneficiaries to have a joyous celebration.

Lawan, who is also the Jigawa state Chairman of the Association of Chairmen of Local Government of Nigeria, announced this on Sunday shortly after a meeting with traditional rulers in the area.

According to Professor Abdulrahman Lawan, 100 orphans were selected from each district in the area to get the fabric.

He added that the council has allocated N600,000 to cover the costs of sewing the clothes.

The chairman emphasised the council’s commitment to supporting the welfare of orphans.

Lawan stressed that this initiative is part of the council’s efforts to ensure that the orphans have a memorable Sallah celebration like others.

In addition to providing clothes for the male orphans, Lawan said that the council has also distributed garments to orphan girls across the area.

“Our council has also provided 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize to the 76 village heads in the domain.”

“This move demonstrates the council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of their community,” he added.

In a remark, the District Head of Fagam (Katikan Dutse), Auwal Adamu praised the leadership of the council for its commitment to caring for orphans.

“This donation aims to alleviate food insecurity and promote economic empowerment within the community,” Katikan Dutse explained.
