JMG sensitises Nigerians to solar sustainability
JMG Limited, a provider of electro-mechanical solutions in Nigeria, has sensitised Nigerians to how sustainable it is to adopt solar energy amid the country’s epileptic power supply.
During a recent Solar Appreciation Day road walk in Lagos, JMG raised awareness about engineering solutions for sustainable development, including renewable energy innovations such as solar power.
Speaking on the initiative, Group General Manager Rabi Jammal said that the road walk underscores JMG’s continuous dedication to engineering excellence, clean energy adoption, and sustainable infrastructure development.
Jammal lamented the growing number of homes that are still in darkness, saying the adoption of solar-friendly appliances is capable of addressing this challenge.
He stated the quality of JMG products is not in doubt, as they are currently in use at several companies and government houses.
He said: “As the world transitions towards cleaner and more efficient energy solutions, engineering remains the driving force behind innovation and progress. Our road walk serves as a platform to engage the public on the pivotal role of engineering in shaping a more sustainable future.
“Solar energy is just one of the many solutions we champion to ensure access to affordable, reliable, and renewable power sources. We started our journey in 1998, and since then, we have evolved to provide solar solutions to places where people can work. It is about partnering with the right set of people to achieve our vision, and that has inspired us to become a global leader in the industry.
“The walk is also a way to build relationships with our customers, and I’m glad we have pushed that with some of the flagship projects we just did. Our aim is also to build a sustainable future for our children and the community. The value of our solar systems in Nigeria is limitless, especially in the northern part of the country. We have unlocked lots of potential by creating awareness and making people understand the importance of solar,” he stated.
Participants, including JMG employees, industry stakeholders, and sustainability advocates, wore branded T-shirts featuring inscriptions on electro-mechanical solutions and renewable energy solutions, reflecting the company’s broad expertise in solar power, traditional power generation, electrical systems, vertical transportation, air compression, and cooling solutions.
Since 2018, JMG said it has expanded its offerings to include inverters, batteries, and alternative power solutions.
“In 2024, JMG reinforced its leadership in Nigeria’s renewable energy market with LONGi solar panels, Deye lithium batteries, and Must solar inverters, providing customers with innovative and efficient energy alternatives,” the company’s Product Manager, Hybrid Power System, Raymond Nwose, said.
He continued, “Beyond energy, JMG continues to contribute to sustainable cities and communities by leveraging engineering innovations to develop smarter infrastructure, reduce energy waste, and promote industrial efficiency. These efforts align with the company’s broader commitment to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).”
He urged the public to implement meaningful changes towards a cleaner, greener, and more energy-efficient future for Nigeria.
