Kano Sharia Commission, WAMY Host Iftaar for New Muslim Converts

The Kano State Sharia Commission, in collaboration with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), organized an iftaar for new Muslim converts in Kano.

The event, held on Sunday, 23rd Ramadan, at the Commission’s premises, was led by the Acting Chairman, Sheikh Ali Danabba, with senior officials, WAMY representatives, and other attendees present.

Sheikh Danabba highlighted the importance of the gathering in strengthening the faith of new converts.

“We are grateful to Allah for allowing us to host this special event. The support and encouragement given to these new brothers and sisters in faith is a duty upon us all,” he said.

The Commission announced that the 15th of Ramadan will be set aside annually for an iftaar ceremony for new Muslim converts.

Alhaji Sanusi, speaking for WAMY, reaffirmed the organization’s support for Islamic activities and the welfare of new Muslims.

“Our mission is to ensure that Islam continues to thrive and that new converts receive the necessary support to strengthen their faith,” he said.

Dr. Sani Ashir, Chairman of the Board, urged community members to assist new converts financially and morally.

“We should all extend a helping hand to these new Muslims so that they do not feel abandoned. Supporting them is part of strengthening the faith,” he said.

Gwani Hadi, Head-General of the Commission, encouraged community members to integrate new converts through marriage.

“To further strengthen their faith and sense of belonging, we urge the Muslim community to welcome these new converts into their homes and even consider marrying them,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, A’isha Suraj, expressed gratitude for the reception and care she received.

“Indeed, Islam is a beautiful religion. The love and kindness I have experienced since embracing Islam are beyond words,” she said.
