Kenyan athlete wins $10,000 in ECOWAS-Abuja international marathon

Kenyan athlete, Harrison Wanjiru, has emerged winner of the Third ECOWAS-Abuja International Marathon.

At the international event held on Saturday morning in Abuja, Wanjiru dominated the 21km race, securing a cash prize of $10,000 for his performance.

The marathon, which attracted participants from various countries, showcased some of the best long-distance runners from Africa and beyond.

Wanjiru’s victory underscored his status as one of Africa’s top competitors in the sport, further enhancing his reputation on the international stage.

In the shorter 5km events, local talents made their mark as well, with Sunday Dagyan and Vivian Obadiah, both from Plateau State, claiming victory in the male and female categories, respectively.

Each winner received a cash prize of $1,000, celebrating their exceptional speed and endurance.
