Lagos police, Navy collaborate to fight crime

The Lagos State Police Command Lagos and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecrooft have resolved to strengthen collaboration in crime fighting and intelligence gathering.

This decision was made during a courtesy visit by the Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Paul Nimmyel, to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Jimoh.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the meeting was held on Tuesday at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

Nimmyel said his visit was to formally introduce himself following his assumption of duty as the new Commander of NNS Beecroft.

“Having just come on board on February 6, 2025, I find it expedient to pay a courtesy visit not only to the Commissioner of Police, but to other security agencies in Lagos that formed the security architecture of the state, ” he said.

He said his visit was aimed at deepening cooperation between the command and the Nigerian Navy in tackling security challenges.

“Navy’s primary task is to ensure that the waterways and sealine of operation in Lagos and part of Ogun and Ondo States are secured so that economic activities can thrive for the nation to prosper,” he added.

In response, Jimoh thanked Nimmyel and his team for the visit.

The police commissioner assured him that the meeting would further strengthen the existing collaboration between the Navy and the police in their joint security efforts.

“I want you to know that the cordial relationship that existed before my arrival between the Lagos Police Command and the Navy will be further strengthened.

“This is to ensure we achieve our ultimate goal of securing Lagos State and all areas under your jurisdiction,” he said.
