March Salaries: Kano State Govt Confirms Early Payment

The Kano State Government has assured civil servants of the early payment of their March salaries, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Musa Tanko, Chief Information Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

According to the statement, Alhaji Auwalu Sanda, Chairman of the Payroll Standing Committee, confirmed that the government has verified nearly 90% of the state’s workforce, with the payment process expected to be completed by March 26.

“This commitment is part of the government’s efforts to prioritize workers’ welfare and ensure timely salary payments,” Sanda stated.

He commended the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for their cooperation, which facilitated a smooth verification process. Addressing concerns about salary deductions, he noted that only a few complaints had been received, primarily related to loan repayments automatically deducted by financial institutions.

“All reported cases have been thoroughly reviewed, and payment vouchers have been sent to the respective MDAs for verification before approval,” he explained.

Sanda reassured workers that, given the rigorous validation process, major complaints were not expected. He emphasized that any issues would likely stem from personal financial arrangements between employees and their banks rather than government actions.

He urged civil servants to appreciate Governor Abba Yusuf’s dedication to ensuring timely salary payments and reiterated the administration’s commitment to workers’ financial stability.

Sanda also called on the people of Kano to pray for the administration’s success and for continued peace and prosperity in the state, especially during the holy month.
