Nigerian Women Calls Out Tinubu Over Economic Hardship

  • Nigerian women urge President Bola Tinubu to tackle the worsening economic situation.
  • They highlight the negative impact of financial struggles on marriage prospects.
  • Rising cost of living makes it hard for men to afford bride prices.

Nigerian women have called on President Bola Tinubu to address the country’s worsening economic situation, emphasizing its impact on marriage prospects. They pointed out that financial struggles, including the rising cost of living, have made it increasingly difficult for men to afford bride prices.

This concern was voiced on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), where many women expressed frustration over issues such as economic instability, fuel price hikes, and insecurity, which continue to affect their daily lives.

One woman shared her struggles, stating that many men are now unable to marry due to financial constraints, making it harder for couples to settle down.

Her statement read: “When you’re quiet, it may seem like you’re fine, but we’re suffering in silence. We need change. We’re tired; please do something.”

She continued, “No place is safe anymore—you could be kidnapped in your own home. How can a liter of fuel cost #1,000? I feel for taxi drivers, Bolt, and Indrive operators—it’s tough for them.”

The woman also lamented the rising cost of living, stating, “I can’t believe I’m paying #2,500 for ‘mama put.’ How can I afford a plate of food for #2,500? We’re exhausted. Even women aren’t getting married anymore because men can’t afford to pay the bride price.”

The post rapidly attracted attention online, as many worried individuals filled the comment section with their opinions on the issue.
