NSA seeks religious leaders’collaboration against terrorism, extremism
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has called for greater collaboration between religious leaders, communities, security agencies, and the government in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
Ribadu made this call on Sunday in his Eid-el-Fitr message to the Muslim community, emphasizing that their collective efforts are essential for strengthening national security.
Ribadu urged Nigerians to carry forward the values of peace, empathy, kindness, and tolerance cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan, applying them to the broader task of maintaining the country’s security.
He stressed that cooperation from all sectors, including religious leaders, remains vital in addressing national security challenges.
“Your cooperation in the fight against terrorism and other threats remains vital to ensuring peace and stability across our nation, particularly in our commitment to a ‘whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach,’” Ribadu stated.
He also emphasised that the collaboration of religious leaders with government and security forces is key to combating terrorism and extremism, ensuring that Nigeria remains united and safe.
“The continued collaboration between the government, religious leaders, communities, and security agencies in combating terrorism and extremism remains paramount,” Ribadu said.
Reflecting on the significance of Eid-el-Fitr, Ribadu urged Nigerians to use the occasion as a moment for reflection and a renewed commitment to peace and national unity.
“Peace, unity, and compassion are the core values underpinning the true spirit of Eid-el-Fitr,” he added.
Ribadu concluded by appealing to all Nigerians to remain vigilant against any forces that threaten peace and unity, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts in building a Nigeria where all citizens, regardless of their faith, can live in harmony and prosperity.
