NWFL: Edo Queens, Abia Angels clash in Umuahia

Nigeria Women Football League champions, Edo Queens FC, will take on homer, Abia Angels in Umuahia on Wednesday in a match day 9 encounter at the Umuahia Stadium in Abia State.

Edo Queens currently top group A with 20 points from eight matches and will battle for their fifth away win. The Benin side will also hope to maintain their unbeaten run since the beginning of the new season.

While the homers will hope to get the three points at stake, the Queens know that a win in this crucial away game would further guarantee them a spot in the Super 6 where winners of the league and teams that will represent the country on the continent will be decided.

Edo Queens’ coach, Moses Aduku has called for maximum concentration from his players, noting that a win in the game would brighten their chances of maintaining top spot and also keeping the Super Six hope alive.

Aduku who stated this while addressing the players on Tuesday in Umuahia, said his players should replicate the 5-0 win over the Angels when both sides met earlier this season

He said, “We are here (Umuahia) for real business, and so I want us to remain focused. Let them know that you are the defending champions.

“You are aware that Edo Queens have not lost any game, so we should try and maintain that record and see every game as war. You humbled them in Benin by 5-0, you can still do the same in Umuahia.

“Last season, they defeated us in Benin, but we came to their home and beat them. I believe we can do it again. I have so much confidence in you girls and by the special grace of God we will go back to Benin with the three points.”
