Over 1,000 athletes for MTN CHAMPS Continental Relays

More than 1,111 athletes have registered for the upcoming MTN CHAMPS Continental Relays, with organisers expecting even more entries before the registration deadline on Wednesday, April 2.

The second leg of CHAMPS Season 3 will take place from April 9 to 12 across two venues in Lagos; the Yabatech Sports Complex and UNILAG Sports Complex. As of Monday, March 24, the event had already received 2,821 event entries from athletes across different age categories.

The registered athletes break down into four main categories – 174 Cadets, 388 Youth, 270 Juniors, and 279 Seniors. This follows the impressive turnout of the first leg in Benin, where 4,371 event entries were received from 2,056 athletes.

Organisers have outlined several important requirements for participants. Athletes in the Cadet (U-14), Youth (U-17), and Junior (U-20) categories must be accompanied by a signed Parental Consent Form.

Additionally, all participants must bring a photocopy of identification showing their date of birth, such as a birth certificate, international passport, or school records.

All registered schools and athletes must collect their competition bibs by Tuesday, April 8, at the competition venue to confirm their participation and remain on the event start lists.

The upcoming event continues the momentum from the first leg in Benin, with expectations high for an even more competitive and exciting tournament. Online registration is also open for the MTN CHAMPS Grand Final, which is scheduled to take place in Uyo from April 30 to May 3.

Athletes and sports enthusiasts can expect a high-level competitive event showcasing the best young sporting talent across various age categories. The Continental Relays represent a significant opportunity for young athletes to demonstrate their skills and potential in a professional sports environment.
