Police arrest two for kidnapping in Edo

The Edo State Police Command said it had arrested two suspects, Kamsiru Abubakar (20 years) and Akhor Daraman (28 years), for alleged kidnapping in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Spokesman, Moses Yamu and made available to journalists on Saturday.
The statement read, “On 05/02/2025 at about 09:45hrs, the police received credible information that suspected kidnappers were sighted around Ugonoba Village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo South.
“The Divisional Police Officer, leading the operatives of Operation Rescue, stormed the location. The suspected kidnappers took to their heels on sighting the police. They were chased, and the duo of Kamsiru Abubakar and Akhor Daraman were arrested.
“During preliminary investigation, some individuals who were victims identified the suspects to be part of the kidnappers that abducted them last year.
“Investigation has been expanded with a view of arresting other members of the kidnap syndicate.”
Yamu said the Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has assured the good people of the state of improved safety and appreciates them for cooperating with the police while soliciting more useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
He stated that the security strategies employed by the CP were yielding positive results with the arrest of suspected kidnappers.
