Saudi Arabia has announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal has been sighted, signaling the end of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The announcement was made on Saturday through the official social media page of Haramain.

“The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025,” the statement read.

The sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide.

Many Muslim communities in various countries follow Saudi Arabia’s official moon sighting to determine the date for Eid.

Eid al-Fitr, known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is marked by communal prayers, charitable giving, and family gatherings.
