TASAfrica bridges data gap for African athletes

Sports technology platform, TASAfrica, is positioning itself as the solution to one of the biggest challenges facing African sports — the absence of structured athlete identification and performance data.

As conversations around data capturing in sports continue to gain momentum across the continent, TASAfrica has emerged as the first major sports platform to offer aspiring athletes a personal digital profile where they can log their bio, performance statistics, game highlights, and educational milestones.

According to a Statista 2023 report, 92 per cent of European player transfers now involve data-backed scouting platforms like Wyscout and Transfermarkt. TASAfrica has created the African equivalent, leveraging international tech partnerships to offer a platform where verified data becomes the passport to career advancement.

The platform integrates multiple features, including athlete performance profiles, a verified data capturing system, a talent discovery algorithm, community engagement tools, social impact engagement, and educational resources.

With these technologies combined, TASAfrica is building Africa’s first centralised sports talent database — an ecosystem where every young aspiring athlete has the opportunity to be seen and developed by scouts, clubs, and agents worldwide.

The global sports tech market is projected to reach $41 billion by 2027, according to Statista 2024, with Africa remaining one of the last frontiers. By solving the continent’s data deficit, TASAfrica is creating an entirely new market segment in African sports data infrastructure.

The platform’s sustainability model ensures that every aspiring athlete profile created represents a data point holding value for schools, recruiters, academies, clubs, agents, brands, broadcasters and other stakeholders.

By 2030, TASAfrica envisions creating a digital footprint for over one million African athletes — from grassroots to professional level. This vision could transform the African sports landscape by making talent discovery more transparent, equitable, and accessible.

Industry observers note that the revolution of African sports cannot happen without proper data infrastructure, and platforms like TASAfrica are laying the foundation for the future of African sports.

As the world increasingly recognises the potential of African sports talent, TASAfrica is positioning itself as the blueprint for supporting Africa’s sporting rise on the global stage.
