Tinubu Set to Declare State of Emergency in Rivers State Amid Political Crisis

President Bola Tinubu has finalized plans to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, sources within the presidency confirmed to Peoples Gazette on Tuesday morning.
According to insiders, the decision was reached overnight and is expected to be announced imminently as tensions escalate between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The ongoing political feud between the two has fueled unrest in the oil-rich state.
A presidential spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, while both Wike and Fubara have not responded to requests for remarks.
Meanwhile, retired military chief Ekwe Ibas has been identified as the likely candidate to oversee affairs in the state once the emergency declaration takes effect.
