Tinubu’s Move in Rivers Is ‘Democratic Robbery’ – Kano NNPP Chair  

The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, has condemned the alleged plan to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it an abuse of electoral rights and a threat to democracy.

Dungurawa accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of bias and undemocratic actions in handling the political crisis in Rivers State. He said such a move undermines Nigeria’s electoral integrity and sets a dangerous precedent for future elections.

“The declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State is nothing but democratic robbery,” Dungurawa stated. “President Tinubu has clearly shown his bias and undemocratic tendencies, which pose a serious threat to the country’s democracy.”

The NNPP, under Dungurawa’s leadership, has rejected the alleged decision, describing it as an abuse of power aimed at suppressing political opposition. He urged Nigerians and pro-democracy advocates to resist any attempt to use executive power to manipulate electoral outcomes.

Amid the controversy in Rivers State, political analysts warn that the NNPP’s position may heighten tensions between opposition parties and the ruling APC, amid concerns over the federal government’s growing influence on state politics.

As reactions continue, Dungurawa’s stance highlights the NNPP’s opposition to what it perceives as electoral interference.
