US discussing with four groups on TikTok sale – Trump

President Donald Trump confirmed that the US government is in active discussions with four different groups regarding the sale of TikTok, the Chinese-owned social media app.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump expressed confidence that an agreement could be reached soon, stating, “We’re dealing with four different groups, and a lot of people want it… all four are good.”

The discussions come amid growing concerns among US lawmakers about data privacy and national security risks associated with TikTok’s Chinese ownership.

In response, the company has denied any allegations of data-sharing with the Chinese government, emphasizing that user privacy remains a top priority.

Earlier this year, TikTok faced a brief shutdown in the US, but Trump intervened, postponing a potential ban for 75 days. He also appointed Vice President JD Vance to oversee the ongoing sale process.

Several prominent figures have shown interest in purchasing the platform, including billionaire Frank McCourt, tech entrepreneur Jesse Tinsley, investor Reid Rasner, and YouTube star James Stephen Donaldson, known as “MrBeast.”

While Trump had previously suggested that Elon Musk might be a potential buyer, Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in Trump’s administration, has made it clear that he has no interest in acquiring TikTok.
