Bobrisky Faces Fresh Allegations Over ₦35 Million VIP Treatment Scandal in Prison

• Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky is facing new controversy over his incarceration, with allegations of smuggling ATM cards and bribing officials for VIP treatment.

• Chief Babalola Shabi, a prominent community leader from Kirikiri Town, has accused Nigerian Correctional Service officials of facilitating Bobrisky’s VIP treatment during his prison sentence.

A new wave of controversy has erupted over the prison sentence of Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky, following explosive claims that he received special treatment while supposedly serving time at Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos.

Chief Babalola Shabi, the Baale of Kirikiri Town—popularly known as “Baale No-Nonsense”—has accused Nigerian Correctional Service officials of aiding Bobrisky in evading proper incarceration by accepting bribes in exchange for VIP privileges.

Speaking at a town hall meeting organized by the Lagos State Police Command in celebration of National Police Week, Shabi alleged that Bobrisky smuggled eight ATM cards into prison and used them to transfer approximately ₦35 million to officials. The funds reportedly secured him a more comfortable, private living arrangement outside the official prison quarters.

“Before the truth came out, everyone believed he was in Kirikiri serving his time. But the reality is that Bobrisky was living comfortably outside the prison walls, thanks to a criminal collaboration involving some officials,” Shabi said.

The community leader said he uncovered the fraud after summoning POS agents in the area to his palace. This triggered an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which traced the cash movements and confirmed the payments facilitated through the POS operators.

Shabi noted that the speed at which the funds were withdrawn pointed to a well-coordinated network between Bobrisky and prison insiders. He also confirmed that both the EFCC and the Department of State Services (DSS) had questioned him over the matter.

He added that the building where Bobrisky was allegedly housed during the sentence has since been demolished.

These revelations contradict earlier findings by a National Assembly panel, which claimed that although Bobrisky received favorable treatment, he remained within the prison premises throughout his sentence.

Further fueling the controversy, social critic VeryDarkMan released a voice note reportedly from Bobrisky, in which the crossdresser allegedly admitted to paying ₦15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges. In the recording, Bobrisky also referred to help from a “godfather” and Correctional Service insiders who ensured his stay in a private location rather than behind bars.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison in 2024 for naira abuse and was released in August of the same year. This latest scandal has raised fresh concerns about corruption within Nigeria’s prison system.
