BREAKING: Onana dropped from Man United squad for Newcastle clash

Manchester United goalkeeper, André Onana, has been left out of the squad for today’s Premier League match against Newcastle United, following a difficult week, with Altay Bayındır set to make his Premier League debut.

According to reports by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Onana was informed of the decision by manager Rúben Amorim after United’s UEFA Europa League fixture against Olympique Lyon.

The manager advised the Cameroonian goalkeeper to take a brief break from football to mentally recharge.

“André Onana won’t even be on the bench for Man United today as Rúben Amorim wanted him to disconnect from football after a difficult week,” Romano reported on Sunday via X.

He added that Onana is expected to return to the squad for the second leg of the Europa League tie on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Jamie Jackson of The Guardian confirmed Onana’s absence, stating that the goalkeeper has not travelled with the squad to Newcastle.

In his place, Turkish international Altay Bayındır is set to make his Premier League debut, providing a significant opportunity for the summer signing to impress in goal.
