Driver arrested for dumping refuse on expressway

A driver has been arrested by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force for illegally dumping refuse along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the arrest on Monday via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Wahab, the offender was caught in the act and promptly apprehended by task force operatives.
The vehicle used for the illegal dumping was also seized.
“His vehicle was intercepted along the Lekki-Epe Expressway while its driver was caught in the act of illegally dumping refuse on the highway. The driver has been arrested, the vehicle seized, and he will be arraigned in court immediately,” Wahab wrote.
The commissioner issued a stern warning to Lagos residents, stressing that the state will not condone actions that endanger the environment and public health.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: Lagos State will not tolerate acts that endanger our environment and public health. Enforcement is active, and violators will be held fully accountable,” he said.
The commissioner added that maintaining a clean environment required the cooperation of all residents and urged citizens to act responsibly to ensure a cleaner, healthier Lagos.
