“It’s About His Roots”- Chiefpriest Condemns E-Money’s Arrest as Igbo Oppression

  • Cubana Chiefpriest, expressed concerns over the arrest of E-Money.
  • E-Money was arrested by the EFCC at his home in Omole, Lagos, on April 28, 2025.
  • The arrest is linked to allegations of violating currency regulations by publicly spraying US dollars.

Nigerian socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has voiced strong concerns over the arrest of music executive and philanthropist Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E-Money.

As previously reported by Legit.ng, E-Money was apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at his residence in Omole, Lagos, on Monday night, April 28, 2025. Allegations suggest that the businessman violated currency regulations by publicly spraying US dollars—an offense under Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act.

Sources within the EFCC told Punch that following the arrest, E-Money was transported to Abuja for further investigation. Notably, E-Money is the younger brother of Nigerian music star Kingsley Okonkwo, also known as KCee.

Reacting to the incident, Cubana Chiefpriest alleged that E-Money’s arrest is not genuinely about any financial misconduct but stems from ethnic bias. He claimed the move is part of a broader agenda to suppress influential figures from Nigeria’s Southeast, particularly the Igbo community.

Chiefpriest also linked the arrest to E-Money’s recent success hosting a high-profile “Homecoming Concert” during the Easter holidays, implying that his growing influence might have triggered the authorities’ attention.

In his words:

This Is A Guy Who Just Did Everything To Push Up Southeast With His Just Concluded Home Coming Concert This Easter. I Knew They Will Come For Him Because The Just Saw His Strength, They Are Doing This So The Can Break Him So As To Make Him Succumb In Supporting Them Under Duress. The Oppression On Us Igbos Will Never Stop But Let Me Tell All Of You We Will Never Stop.
