Kano Records Over 10 Million NIN Registrations, Second Highest in Nigeria
Kano State has recorded over 10 million National Identity Number (NIN) registrations, ranking second nationwide, according to the latest statistics from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
The report reveals that as of February 28, 2025, a total of 117 million Nigerians have been registered for NIN.
Lagos State leads the country with over 12.6 million NIN registrations. Kano follows closely with 10,246,055 registered individuals, consisting of 5,924,126 males and 4,321,929 females. Kaduna State ranks third with 6,945,818 registrations, comprising 3,832,083 males and 3,113,735 females.
The data also highlights other states with significant registration figures. Ogun State recorded 4,926,721 enrollments, with 2,567,102 males and 2,359,619 females, while Oyo State registered 4,539,340 individuals, including 2,361,100 males and 2,178,240 females.
The NIMC report indicates a nearly equal regional distribution of registrations across Nigeria. Male registrants account for 66,281,803 (56.5%) of the total, while female registrants make up 51,079,521 (43.5%).
Meanwhile, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Ekiti are among the states with the lowest NIN registration figures. Bayelsa recorded 758,537 enrollments, Ebonyi had 990,775, and Ekiti reported a total of 1,143,102 registrations.
Other states with notable registration figures include Katsina with 4,019,964, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 3,795,690, Rivers with 3,532,787, Delta with 3,198,779, and Bauchi with 3,078,996 registered individuals.
