Ondo gov unveils ‘Operation Daadaa’ as Amotekun arrests 61
The Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has set up a security committee called ‘Operation Daadaa’ to tackle insecurity challenges across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The committee, which compromised all security agencies in the state, was assigned a team to check the rising insecurity in the state.
The Commander of the state’s Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Thursday while parading 61 suspected criminals at the command’s headquarters in Akure the state capital.
According to him, the committee was composed of officers and men from all the security agencies in the state, including the Amotekun Corps, the police, the army, and the NSCDC.
He explained that the security agencies in the security committee had ‘bombarded the Alagada, Ago Ademekun, Ago Oyinbo forests and their operation extended to Ose and Owo Local Government Area and the entire Akure North and South Local Government Areas.”
“You are aware that the Government of Ondo State, under the able leadership of Dr Aiyedatiwa, set up a committee and a team to check the rising insecurity in Ondo State in the last couple of days.
“Also, under these two weeks under review with the Amotekun Rangers and Operation Daadaa, in collaboration with other security agencies, we arrested a group in the far Arimogija boundary of the Ondo/Edo that were dismantling critical federal government assets in terms of aluminum conductors and wires. This brings to a total of 61 suspected criminals.”
Speaking on the 61 suspects, Adeleye stated that the suspects were arrested for various crimes across the state.
The commander also said, the command arrested a 28-man syndicate who were Ghanaians that specialised in kidnapping, human trafficking, and rustling”
“They (syndicate )invite unsuspecting members of the public that they want to help them procure U.S. visas. We have 28 Ghanaians that were invited to Akure, and once they come in, they collect money from them, some of them $2,000, some of them $1,500, and kidnap them and house them in Oda, and the only condition under which they leave the place is to bring another set to be kidnapped.
“The eagle eyes of the intelligence section of Amotekun Corps were able to pick them and right here today, we have 28 of them. We equally have those of them who were rescued by the corps and their families.”
