Three killed in murder incidents across Lagos
The Lagos State police command, on Monday, reported incidences of murder in the Ojo, Agege and Ikotun areas of the state.
Addressing journalists at the command headquarters, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said it has arrested a man identified as Kamoru Ojo for allegedly killing her 27-year-old daughter, Shakirat, at Afromedia community in the Ojo area of Lagos State.
In the incident that occurred on March 26, he said the suspect had an altercation with her daughter and, thereafter, beat her to death.
According to the PPRO, Kamoru, upon realising that her daughter had become motionless, decided to secretly bury her on the premises of his residence.
Hundeyin added that a team comprising homicide detectives and crime officers was dispatched to the locatio,n where they uncovered a shallow grave within the compound.
He further stated that the decomposing remains of the victim were exhumed and taken to a public morgue for autopsy.
He said, “On April 3, 2025, at about 8 am, a distress call was received at Okokomaiko division concerning a crime that had occurred on March 26, 2025. According to the report, one Shakirat Ojo, aged 27, was allegedly beaten to death by her father, Kamoru Ojo, who also buried the victim in a shallow grave within his compound in the Afromedia area of Ojo.
“Following the report, a team comprising homicide and crime detectives visited the address. The shallow grave was located, and the corpse was exhumed, photographed, and taken to a public morgue for autopsy. The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody.”
In a similar development, Hundeyin also disclosed that a 28-year-old man, identified simply as Tobi, was allegedly stabbed to death during a fight involving three individuals at the Abattoir Market in the Agege area of the state.
He said the incident occurred on Monday, March 31, 2025, at about 6:20 pm and was reported to the Abattoir Police Division an hour later by the deceased’s elder brother.
According to him, Tobi was involved in a physical altercation with three suspects identified as Lateef Tajudeen, Fatimah Alesiloye, and Ibrahim Olawunmi. He was fatally stabbed in the neck with a sharp object, succumbing to the injuries on the spot.
He said, “On March 31, 2025, at about 5:20 pm, a complainant reported at Abattoir Division that on the same day at about 6:20 pm, his younger brother named Tobi aged 28, allegedly engaged in a fight with three people: Lateef Tajudeen, Fatimah Alesiloye and Ibrahim Olawunmi at Abattoir Market, Agege.
“In the process, he was stabbed in the neck with a sharp object and died on the spot. Based on the report, a team of detectives of the command visited the scene and arrested the three suspects. The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the Mainland General Hospital morgue, Yaba for autopsy. The investigation is in progress.”
Speaking on another murder incident, Hundeyin said a 46-year-old man identified as Daniel was allegedly stabbed to death by a woman during an altercation in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos State.
He said the incident occurred on Saturday, March 30, 2025, at about 2 pm and was reported to the Ikotun Police Division shortly after.
He said the suspect, a 36-year-old Omotoyosi Abadajo, reportedly stabbed the victim in the chest with a broken bottle during a heated exchange.
“Daniel was rushed to the hospital following the attack but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba for autopsy,” he added.
