A disc jockey, Wahab Olakunle, popularly known as DJ Wahab, is currently gearing up for a tour of the United Kingdom, as well as the release of his Extended Play album.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, he said, “I am working on new mixtapes, and also planning to collaborate with some artistes. My fans should be expecting my new mixtapes, and hopefully an EP, titled, ‘Afrobeats – The Evolution’, before the end of the year.
“In a similar vein, I am planning to go on a tour of the United Kingdom. I will be touring the UK for the second time, based on the demand from my teeming fans. I will be playing for my fans in London, Manchester, and Liverpool among other cities.”
On the inspiration behind his EP, DJ Wahab said, “I chose that title, because the playlist shows how afrobeats songs have evolved over time. It is a mix of old and latest tunes. I am quite excited about the project.”
Asked to share his opinion about the qualities that make a good DJ, he said, “A good DJ should be able to read the mood of an event. I do not limit myself to a particular genre of music. I also love to research and explore other genres of music, especially foreign music.”
