Mustapha Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has landed a top political appointment.
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, appointed the younger Kwankwaso as a nominee for commissioner.
Kwankwaso, who served as a former Governor of Kano and was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2023 general election has been a major pillar of support for the Kano Governor over the years. He had backed him in the 2019 election when Governor Yusuf contested for the post under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP but he lost. He also fought with him in 2023 which was successful.
Additionally, Adamu Kibiya, a former Commissioner for Land who was previously suspended for making derogatory remarks about tribunal judges, has also been nominated.
The other nominees for commissionership are Usman Aliyu and Abduljabbar Garko.
The names of the four nominees have been submitted to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
