The Batman – Part II will bring in more classic villains from the comics to the universe that director Matt Reeves is building, and according to new rumors, that could include an exciting star as Two-Face. While a new Batman actor will be cast for James Gunn’s DC Universe — for The Brave and the Bold Batman reboot movie — Robert Pattinson has been confirmed to return as the Dark Knight for The Batman – Part II‘s story, though no more cast additions have been officially confirmed at this moment. The movie is part of DC’s new Elseworlds banner, taking place outside DCU canon.
That will allow Reeves to retain full creative control of The Batman universe and its spin on Gotham City and Batman’s long gallery of villains and supporting actors. While The Batman‘s ending set up a return for Paul Dano’s Riddler as he met Barry Keoghan’s Joker at Arkham Asylum, the duo might not be the main threats that Batman will face. With a wave of corruption and crime in Gotham, it would make sense that Harvey Dent would step up to help Batman clean the city, and a new rumor proposes just that, with a talented actor possibly playing Two-Face.
According to a new rumor shared by BreakingFilm, actor Boyd Holbrook has been cast as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Batman – Part II. DC declined a request for comment on the news. The report states that Holbrook’s casting was only possible due to the recent The Batman – Part II delay. The movie was originally slated to open in theaters on October 3, 2025; however, The Batman sequel will now arrive a year later, on October 2, 2026. That move was caused due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which delayed work on the script.
According to the report, Holbrook was unable to sign on for the movie previously due to prior commitments to other projects; however, The Batman – Part II‘s delay allowed the actor’s schedule to clear so he could play Harvey Dent. Holbrook became famous for starring in Netflix’s Narcos alongside Pedro Pascal and Wagner Moura, with the actor since appearing in a slew of popular franchises, including comic book roles. If the rumor pans out, Holbrook would be the first actor to play Two-Face in a live-action movie since Aaron Eckhart in 2008’s The Dark Knight.
Holbrook would be a very good choice to play Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Batman – Part II. The actor has plenty of experience with villain roles in comic book movies, having been part of two major releases of the genre. While he could soon join DC’s movie side, Holbrook was previously a villain in what might be the best release of Fox’s X-Men franchise: Logan. The actor played Donald Pierce, the leader of the Reavers, who gets tasked with hunting down Dafne Keen’s Laura and the other mutant children who escaped from Alkali-Transigen.
Holbrook delivered a notable performance in his Logan role, adding a flair to a villain that could have been forgettable, making him a real threat. Then, Holbrook played the main antagonist of Netflix’s The Sandman. As The Corinthian, the actor was allowed to truly let loose. Holbrook delivered a performance that was equal times charismatic and terrifying, which made his character steal every scene he was in. The kind of unpredictable energy and scene-stealing quality that he brought to The Corinthian is exactly what Two-Face needs, which makes him a perfect pick for the Batman villain.
Harvey Dent would be a perfect fit for The Batman – Part II after the original movie. The Batman focused a great deal of time on former District Attorney Gil Colson, who was as corrupt as one can be — working for mob boss Carmine Falcone — and ended up dying when the Riddler’s explosive device went off. With Gotham City’s DA position vacant, who better to fill it than Harvey Dent?
The character could first start as someone working towards cleaning up the wave of corruption that took over Gotham alongside Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon and Pattinson’s Batman, before becoming scarred and turning into Two-Face. The Batman was greatly inspired by the comic book story The Long Halloween, which featured a similar arc for Dent as he tried to clean the streets of organized crime, with the character later turning into Two-Face. The villain would be perfectly suited for The Batman‘s grounded approach to the franchise, and Holbrook would excel as Two-Face in The Batman – Part II.
