A Black Series four-pack celebrates the Star Wars Legends Thrawn trilogy. While Thrawn has reemerged in canon in Star Wars’ New Republic timeline, his story began in what is now Legends. Upcoming Star Wars TV shows are expected to further explore Thrawn’s canon stories, while upcoming Star Wars movies will seemingly adapt the Legends trilogy from Timothy Zahn. This proves how important the formerly Star Wars Legends character of Thrawn has become to the franchise something further supported by a recent merchandising release.
As revealed by Hasbro, the Black Series collection will be centered around Star Wars’ Grand Admiral Thrawn, a four-pack from the original Zahn trilogy. Featuring the characters of Luke Skywalker, Luuke, Joruus C’Boath, and Mara Jade, the four-pack celebrates some of the major players in Zahn’s Heir to the Empire trilogy. Titled after the final book in the trilogy, The Last Command, the Black Series four-pack will be available for pre-order exclusively at Hasbro Pulse on March 27, 2024, at 1 pm ET.
Based on the future of Star Wars, the Hasbro Black Series could not have come at a more apt time. Due to the stories of upcoming Star Wars projects, the original Legends Thrawn trilogy is more crucial to the franchise than it ever has been. With Thrawn’s resurgence permeating all aspects of the New Republic era, it is expected that elements of the Thrawn trilogy will be adapted into canon.
This was all but proved by Ahsoka, in which the titular Jedi referred to Thrawn as the Heir to the Empire. This, combined with The Mandalorian‘s battles against Imperial Remnants and the exploration of Force-sensitive clones, will make the events of the Thrawn trilogy as close to canon as possible. Therefore, the Black Series celebrating Zahn’s original stories for Thrawn is perfectly timed, as the Chiss Imperial Admiral continues to have a grip over the Star Wars franchise.
