According to ABC, there are three easy ways for fans to vote for their favorite American Idol season 22 contestants. Fans can vote online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the American Idol app, or via text. Fans must be at least 16 years old and located in the United States, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands to vote on ABC.com or in the American Idol app. Fans who choose text message voting should text the number of the contestant to “21523.” The number for each contestant will be shown on screen during the episode when voting begins.
In order to vote at AmericanIdol.com/vote or in the American Idol app, fans must first have an ABC account. They can sign up using their email address. In addition, to vote via the American Idol app, which is available in the App Store and Google Play Store, fans must download and install the app to a compatible device. Fans who already have the app should update it if they haven’t already done so.
Each week, fans can submit up to ten votes for each American Idol season 22 contestant per voting method. They can vote up to ten times on ABC.com, up to ten times on the American Idol app, and up to ten times via text message. This means that they can vote a total of up to 30 times for each contestant across all voting methods. This can be repeated for as many contestants as fans want to vote for.
In case fans change their minds about their votes during the episode, votes may also be reallocated until the voting window closes. All fans have to do is hit the “save” button each time they make changes to their votes. This is possible until voting ends.
According to ABC, American Idol season 22 voting begins during the Hawaii round, during which the Top 24 finalists will perform in two separate episodes, airing on Sunday, April 7 and Monday, April 8. On Sunday, April 7, voting starts at the beginning of the East Coast broadcast at approximately 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT, and locks at 6 a.m. EDT/3 a.m. PDT on Monday, April 8. On Monday, April 8, voting continues beginning at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT, and locks at 6 a.m. EDT/3 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, April 9.
However, the American Idol voting window will change when the live shows begin. Because eliminations occur at the ends of those episodes, voting stops toward the end of the show.
