Once Upon A Time's Snow White & Prince Charming Photoshoot Sparks Major Fan Nostalgia

A photoshoot featuring Once Upon a Time actors Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas leads to an outpouring of nostalgia for ABC’s fairy tale series. Goodwin, who played Snow White, and Dallas, who played Prince Charming, first met on the set of Once Upon a Time. Their onscreen romance and chemistry translated to real life as they began dating and later got married and had two children. Goodwin and Dallas were series regulars for Once Upon a Time seasons 1-6, and returned as special guest stars for season 7, which ran from 2017 to 2018 and concluded the popular show.

Disney+ has now released a photoshoot spotlighting Goodwin and Dallas, along with other Disney+ and Hulu stars, following the integration of both streamers for those who subscribe to both services. Check out the post below:

Even though the photoshoot features other actors, including Disney Channel stars Ashely Tisdale and Raven-Symonรฉ, Shลgun‘s Hiroyuki Sanada, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s rising stars Alaqua Cox, Dominque Thorne, and Iman Vellani, the comments are dominated by adoration for Goodwin and Dallas, and for Once Upon a Time.

The enthusiastic response to seeing Goodwin and Dallas again shows there is still significant interest in the series nearly six years after its last episode. In the past year, Disney CEO Bob Iger has been open about the company leaning on its established brands and franchises, including Star Wars, Marvel, Avatar, Toy Story, and Frozen. Once Upon a Time never became a cultural phenomenon to the extent of these intellectual properties, but it did run for seven seasons on ABC, and continues to have an enthusiastic following, meaning it could be revived under Disney’s current approach.

That being said, there is not much of a narrative reason to continue Once Upon a Time. Between its 156 episodes, about 22 episodes during each season, Once Upon a Time thoroughly explored nearly every storyline and every one of its core characters before culminating in a deeply satisfying series finale in which Regina Mills, once the Evil Queen, was crowned the Good Queen after years of gradual, hard-fought redemption and rich character development. While season 7 was a continuation of the overall story, it also acted as a soft reboot.

Even before season 7, nearly every series regular played multiple versions of their primary character. Dallas also got to be Charming’s evil identical brother Prince James, a henchman for Snow White in an alternate reality, and King David in the Wish Realm, while Goodwin got to be different versions of Queen Snow White in the alternate reality and the Wish Realm. There is always a potential for Once Upon a Time to return, and fairy tales will continue to be revisited and adapted for modern times, but the series has already narratively done everything it needed to achieve.
