Former 90 Day: The Single Life couple Veronica Rodriguez and Jamal Menzies could have gotten back together after the juicy season 4 Tell All. Veronica is a 37-year-old reality TV star from Charlotte who was introduced as Tim Malcolm’s ex-turned-best friend on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 3. Veronica began her solo journey in the franchise with 90 Day: The Single Life season 3, but Tim remained her constant companion. Tim was one of the major reasons behind her relationship failures on the show, especially with Jamal, who couldn’t stand Tim at all.
Jamal teamed up with Tim’s ex-girlfriend Luisa Beltran after their respective breakups to prove Veronica and Tim’s friendship was fake and that they bad-mouthed each other behind each other’s backs. Jamal also made Veronica look like the one who initiated their breakup when he knew he was the problem due to his noncommittal attitude and communication problems. Jamal and Veronica’s storyline took a shocking turn at the end of Part 4 amid Jamal also sparking romance rumors with Luisa.
Jamal and Veronica’s age gap was the biggest red flag in their relationship. Veronica was looking for a stable relationship when she joined the 90 Day: The Single Life season 3 cast. Veronica wanted to get married again. Jamal, at 27, was not interested in being anyone’s boyfriend, let alone becoming a husband. Veronica didn’t talk about it, but she didn’t like Jamal having other romantic interests on his side. However, when they did start dating and became “,exclusive,” Veronica realized Jamal was bad at communication, which was very important for their long-distance relationship.
Tim’s ever-looming presence in Veronica’s life also bothered Jamal. He failed to understand that Tim co-parented Veronica’s daughter, hence it was an important part of her life she couldn’t let go of. Jamal came to believe that Veronica was too dependent on Tim. He was upset with Veronica and Tim’s “weird” relationship and wanted them to set boundaries with each other. Jamal was young and acting immature in the relationship by refusing to understand Veronica’s past and her priorities as a parent. To him, Tim was the ultimate obstacle in their relationship.
Jamal and Veronica revealed they were no longer together during the Tell All Part 1. Veronica claimed that Jamal broke up with her over a text by sending her a peace sign emoji. Jamal was supposed to come for a long visit to Charlotte, but he texted her saying he couldn’t come. When Veronica asked him why, Jamal told her he didn’t owe her an explanation. She waited a couple of days and texted him generic “good morning baby” messages. However, when she pressed him about what was going on, Jamal told her to “take care” with a peace sign emoji.
Tim said Veronica was deeply affected by how Jamal behaved towards her. When she tried asking him what he meant, Jamal allegedly said he was not going to take the time to explain because Veronica was “so cold.” Jamal insisted he did not break up with Veronica over text. “We didn’t break off until you said you didn’t want to until you said you didn’t want to talk to me anymore,” Jamal explained. Jamal wasn’t able to go because his mom, Kim Menzies, was going through “emotional stuff” and needed him.
Veronica said they were in a good place and his text took her by surprise. As per Jamal, Veronica had told her to not take care of his mom and to come to Charlotte. Two weeks later, when Jamal texted Veronica, she’d told him she was in a good place, so Jamal thought the relationship was done and over.
Jamal admitted that he should have put in more consistent effort and communicated better. He said he has a knack of running and it wasn’t fair to Veronica.
Debbie Aguero got a feeling that Jamal and Veronica’s relationship could be rekindled. However, both of them unanimously said, “No.” However, Jamal and Veronica met backstage where he apologized to her again by saying, “I’m sorry if I came on too strong.” Jamal told Veronica that she was always going to be there for her, and Veronica said the same to Jamal. She admitted that they had to break up “because, life, because it wasn’t the time, it wasn’t the place.” She told Jamal, “It’s all good.” Jamal held Veronica’s hands, asking her what she was doing later that night.
When Jamal asked Veronica if they were in a good place, she asked him to call her later to find out, “how good of a place” they were in. Veronica grabbed Jamal and kissed the top of his head, while he planted a soft kiss on her cheek, asking her if he was going to see her later. Veronica nodded while walking towards her co-stars and told them that Jamal was going to join them if they were heading for dinner. Tyray Mollett joked that Veronica and Jamal could be the new Veronica and Tim.
Chantel Everett turned to John MacManus to ask him if he thought Veronica meeting Jamal was a good idea. He said he once saw that Veronica had liked one of Jamal’s pictures on social media. Debbie observed that Veronica liked Jamal a lot. When Natalie asked what made Veronica and Jamal keep coming back to each other, John replied, “Sex.” He explained that both of them were single with not a lot going on so they were bound to mingle at some point. Chantel wasn’t certain they made a good couple, and Tyray wondered if Veronica liked Jamal’s aggression.
Jamal and Veronica haven’t shown any signs of their being together in 2024. Jamal celebrated his birthday on April 7 in San Diego and Veronica wasn’t a part of the celebrations. Jamal and Veronica do follow each other on Instagram and can occasionally be seen interacting with each other on their posts. It doesn’t mean that Veronica and Jamal are dating, but it does mean that the former couple has stayed in touch and could be exploring a casual relationship at the moment.
While Jamal wanted to meet Veronica for dinner on the night they filmed the Tell All for 90 Day: The Single Life, he was also talking about riding into the sunset with Luisa Beltran. Luisa accused Tim of being gay and, and as noticed by the cast, had spent the previous night with Jamal. Jamal implied that they slept together and he wanted to date Luisa. While Jamal and Luisa also have shown no signs of being in a relationship on social media, it appears Jamal did turn out to be the playboy that viewers and cast members had warned Veronica about.
