We’ve never had it so bad – Northeast church tasks Tinubu on economic revival

Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria, EYN, Christian denomination across North East Nigeria, has lamented that the current economic indices of Nigeria have never been this bad in the country’s history.

President of the EYN, Rev Joel Billi, while addressing delegates to the Church’s General Council in Adamawa State, said President Bola Tinubu who promised renewed hope, must act true to the promise.

“Where are we heading as a nation in the hands of somebody who came to power with the slogan Renewed Hope? Indeed these are turbulent times because the economy has worsened the poverty index of our nation,” he said.

Maintaining that the economy had never been the way it is today, the EYN president said it all began with the ‘unplanned removal’ of fuel subsidy, floating of the naira, unregulated foreign exchange regime, and institutional corruption.

He expressed reservations about the government’s move to raise the income of workers, asking where other employers like the church could be expected to source money to similarly pay better wages.
