Tinubu names new SEC, NAICOM boards 

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of some Nigerian professionals to the Boards of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

While the President appointed Mr Mairiga Aliyu Katuka as chairman of SEC, Ms Halima Kyari would serve as the chairperson for the NAICOM board.

Other board members appointed for SEC are Mr Emomotimi Agama (Director-General), Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement), Mr Bola Ajomale — Executive Commissioner (Operations), Mrs Samiya Hassan Usman — Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Mr Lekan Belo (Non-Executive Commissioner) and Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi (Non-Executive Commissioner).

According to a statement issued on Friday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President  (Media & Publicity), the President anticipates that all members of the Board of this critical commission will bring to bear their wealth of experience and competence in advancing the commission’s core mandate of developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient, to bolster investor confidence and contribute immeasurably to the nation’s economic development.

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of some qualified Nigerians to the NAICOM Board alongside Ms. Halima Kyari as the chairperson. 

Others appointed with her are; Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin (Commissioner for Insurance), Mr Olawoye Gam-Ikon, Deputy Commissioner (Technical Operations), Dr Usman Ankara Jimada, Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Administration), Dr Miriam Kene Kachikwu (member), Mr Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun (member), and Mr Umar Khalifa Mohammed (member).
