In a bid to ensure the improvement of human capital development across the country, the medical director of Alliance Hospital in Abuja, Dr Christopher Otabor, has suggested measures for access to healthcare and free education to vulnerable persons to the President Tinubu administration for human capital development.
He made the suggestion when he paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon Delu Yakubu in Abuja.
The office of senior special assistant to the president on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is in collaboration with the Alliance Hospital to preserve the ugly figure of out-of-school children and to ensure those at the grassroot access quality medical services at no cost.
Otabor said presidency must identify stakeholders in the private sector to be responsible for the school fees of indigents and carry out medical outreaches for vulnerable in the communities
While speaking further, he disclosed that he will roll out his team of medical doctor to carry out out regular medical outreaches in the FCT communities, adding that his team of medical doctors are ready for the job, in collaboration with the Presidency, will identify and adopt children of the poor and give them scholarships.
Otabor also stated that the government cannot do everything, urging the Presidency to expand collaboration to other private sectors assuring that the future of Nigerian children will be bright if they join in the collaboration.
At the meeting, the MD of Alliance Hospital noted that under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, there is hope for Nigeria. He added that a critical look at the appointments the president has made so far show that he has engaged square pegs in square holes and based on that, the government has got it right in terms of appointment.
Otabor encouraged Nigerians to be patient, adding that the renewed hope of the President will definitely take the country to a greater height.
He said that the Naira is now the best performing currency in the world, and that other aspects of Nigeria will record the same feat.
Otabor said under President Tinubu, there is the need to improve healthcare and education for those at the grassroot, revealing that there are a lot of people who cannot go to school and many who are sick and cannot not pay for medical bills
The Alliance Hospital MD pointed out that based on the reality on the ground, there is the need to foster collaboration with the President to care for the vulnerable persons.
He maintained that he wants to take healthcare to the poor community in FCT and in future, it can be scaled down to the six geopolitical zones. He added that he would want to carry out a regular medical outreach and a team of doctors will be used to achieve it.
Otabor also informed the SSA how the Alliance Hospital has partnered with FRSC to reduce fatality by treating accident victims whether they have money or not.
Responding, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Delu Yakubu, commended the MD of Alliance Hospital, especially with his readiness to assist the federal government to tackle out-of-school children and pay the medical bill of those that cannot pay.
She said according to the holy book, “we are in this world to serve God and humanity, that Nigeria has so many private hospitals but Alliance Hospital was pick to render humanitarian services to the vulnerable persons in the country, adding that the first quarter report of her office to president Tinubu has the humanitarian services of Alliance Hospital included.”
She thanked Dr Otabor for putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians through his Humanitarian services and for accepting to collaborate with the Presidency.
She presented an award of excellence to Dr Otabor in recognition of his Humanitarian services.
