Fallout 4 players can now roleplay as one of the protagonists of Amazon’s live-action adaptation, Lucy MacLean, thanks to the inclusion of a new item from the show. Since the show’s release earlier this month, Lucy has become a fan-favorite character, with an arc that sees her journey as a somewhat naive, sheltered vault dweller learning more about the horrors of the Wasteland as she searches for her father.
As Lucy embarks upon her journey out of Vault 33, she takes a yellow and blue Vault-Tec backpack full of essentials. This item has now been faithfully recreated in a mod by QwibQwib, albeit with the number 111 rather than 33 to tie it to the vault from Fallout 4 rather than that of the show. This backpack can be found in the blue pod building just outside of Vault 111 and adds +25 to players’ carry weight. It can also be upgraded to increase the carry weight at the armor workbenches throughout the game.
When using Fallout 4‘s character creator and SPECIAL stats, it’s already possible to build a character that looks like Lucy MacLean and has her skills even before adding any mods to the game. In fact, the actress who played Lucy in the show, Ella Purnell, said when promoting the series that this was essentially the case when she played the game, as she made her character look like herself.
The Fallout show also has a brilliant introductory sequence for Lucy in which she essentially lists her SPECIAL stats when she is stating her case to Vault 33’s council as to why she should take part in the Triennial Trade with Vault 32. SPECIAL stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck, and each statistic is assigned a number between 1 and 10 in the game’s character creation, with them evolving as players progress in the game, and recently, the Fallout Shelter game added characters from the show and confirmed Lucy’s SPECIAL stats, which are as follows:
Between the character creation and mods like QwibQwib’s backpack adding further elements from the show, it’s easier than ever to start a new campaign and see how Lucy would fare in Fallout 4‘s storyline. As for Lucy’s journey in the show, players can look forward to seeing more of the character, as Amazon has already renewed it for Season 2 less than a week after the first season’s successful launch.
