American Idol Season 22 Top 10 Theme Revealed As Shania Twain Mentors Contestants

The American Idol season 22 Top 10 contestants will take to the stage on Sunday, April 28 to perform songs that have a specific connection to their lives, with the help of country music superstar Shania Twain as their mentor. Jayna Elise and Roman Collins were just eliminated from American Idol season 22 after performing on Billboard No. 1 Hits night, where they were mentored by Meghan Trainor. Tori Kelly, Jelly Roll and Gene Simmons also stopped by in recent weeks to impart their wisdom on the brand-new group of singers competing to be the next American Idol winner.

Now that the Top 10 from American Idol season 22 have been revealed, they are heading back to rehearsals for the next round of the competition, where the theme will be Songs From Their Birth Years. Their mentor is none other than Shania, whose hits include “Any Man Of Mine,” “You’re Still The One,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” This isn’t the first time she has appeared on American Idol. She was a guest judge during the American Idol season 9 auditions, then returned to mentor the Top 6, who performed songs from her catalog.

During that same episode, American Idol season 10 winner Scotty McCreery will take to the stage to perform his new single “Cab In A Solo,” which will be included on his upcoming album Rise & Fall. Also performing during the Top 10 episode is American Idol season 18 winner Just Sam, who competed in 2020 when the contestants had to film their performances from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Just Sam has had a rocky few years since winning. Their deal with Hollywood Records fell through, and they went back to busking. Now Timbaland has taken Sam under his wing to mentor.

Shania will no doubt be a great mentor for the Top 10 contestants. American Idol season 22 has had some fantastic guest mentors so far this year, and Shania will only make that list even better. As for the theme–Songs From Their Birth Years–most of the American Idol season 22 finalists were born in the early-to-mid 2000’s, with some born in 1999, so that’s the time period in which they’ll be choosing their songs from. Their ages range from 15 to 25.

Aside from seeing the Top 10 perform once again, with the help of Shania, it’ll be great to see Scotty and Just Sam return to American Idol, the show that put them on the national scene. Since Just Sam never got to experience the live shows on Idol, their upcoming performance will be a brand-new experience for them. Sam will be able to use this appearance as the perfect opportunity to promote their new single “One Moment In Time,” and, hopefully, their career will only go up from here.
