An elder statesman and chieftain of the Pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, recently shared his experience raising his daughter, Mrs Ayomide Aderemilekun Adebanjo, who just celebrated her 70th birthday.
During a Thanksgiving service held at Oke-Ado Baptist Church in Ibadan on Friday to commemorate Mrs. Adebanjo’s milestone, Pa Adebanjo recounted how their family weathered the storm despite the celebrant’s childhood health challenges, with the help of God.
He revealed that Mrs Adebanjo faced health challenges during her school days, but their family relied on God’s support to overcome them.
“Ayotunde is a special daughter of mine. I have every reason to be grateful to God for her life. She had health challenges during her school days but God stood by the family. I have reason to be thankful to God that she is marking her 70th birthday in my lifetime,” Pa Adebanjo expressed.
In her testimony, Mrs Adebanjo, fondly known as Mummy Ayo, based her gratitude on three pillars: protection, provision, and performance. She emphasised that God had been faithful to her over the past 70 years, considering these parameters.
“I thank God for giving me the grace to attain this age. God has been so gracious, faithful, and merciful to me in terms of protection, provision, and performance,” Mrs. Adebanjo testified.
During the service, Rev. Dr. S.A. Adeboje delivered a brief but impactful sermon, urging Mrs. Adebanjo to dedicate herself more to the things of God. He emphasised the importance of being mindful of one’s health and striving for eternity, quoting from 1 Corinthians 4:7.
“At this age, what should concern you now is eternity and your well-being. Many people die prematurely because they are not mindful of their health status,” Rev. Adeboje advised.
