"KILL THEM ALL!": Spawn Multiverse Goes to War in SPAWN KILLS EVERY SPAWN

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Spawn Kills Every Spawn #1! Widespread death and destruction is nothing out of the ordinary for a Spawn comic, but this new one is a definite standout, as one Spawn is taking on every other Spawn in the multiverse in Spawn Kills Every Spawn. And the best part? The Spawn variant in question isnโ€™t new to this level of carnage, as heโ€™s done something similar not once, but twice before.

In a preview shared by AIPT Comics for the Spawn Kills Every Spawn! #1 (of 5) by John Layman and Rob โ€œSketchcraftโ€ Duenas, fans are given just the artwork (no dialogue yet) depicting the fan-favorite Spawn variant, โ€˜Baby Spawnโ€™ aka โ€˜Spawnyโ€™ absolutely massacring every Spawn around him.

Along with the pages, the Spawn Kills Every Spawn preview also included a synopsis for the upcoming title. It reads as follows:

Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn and President at Image Comics, spoke not only about his excitement for this new, crazy chapter in the Spawn mythos, but also revealed that fans might have more in store for them than just absolute carnage.

Spawny made his debut in Spawn Kills Everyone, where heโ€™s desperately trying to get a movie deal, but no one is willing to produce it. Meanwhile, Spawny sees a number of other characters get movies so easily, like Hulk, Deadpool, the Star Wars cast, and so many others. So, what is there to do but murder the competition in the hopes that it will yield a movie deal? At least, thatโ€™s Spawnyโ€™s deranged line of logic, anyway.

Spawny then makes his return two years later with Spawn Kills Everyone Too, where this time, heโ€™s upset with the fact that he hasnโ€™t killed as many people as before. Rather than going on a murder spree right then and there, Spawny lets the despair get to him, and he falls into a depressive state. Luckily, Spawny had just given birth to dozens of even littler Spawns, who take it upon themselves to cheer up their parent by killing more iconic characters (Captain America, Alienโ€™s Xenomorph, the Hulk (again)).

These โ€˜Spawn Killsโ€™ storylines have so far been comedic gore-fests, where Spawny cuts through countless victims with ease, with no real threat to his own life presenting itself. This time, however, Spawny wonโ€™t just be killing characters who are relatively (and only arguably) weaker than Spawn, but other Spawns, meaning Spawny might have finally met his match. Of course, thatโ€™s probably not going to happen.

Spawnyโ€™s โ€˜Spawn Killsโ€™ storylines are like extra-violent episodes of Looney Tunes, as heโ€™s using โ€˜cartoon logicโ€™ more than anything else to kill his opponents. And like any kind of comic or show that uses โ€˜cartoon logicโ€™, the main character is absolutely untouchable, which is exactly what Spawn fans are so excited to see with the return of Spawny as he goes to war against his other selves in Spawn Kills Every Spawn.

Spawn Kills Every Spawn! #1 (of 5) from Image Comics is available July 24, 2024.
