A new set of cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game has just been revealed in Japan, and can be expected for release in English-speaking territories this summer. Japanese Pokémon sets are generally released at least a month before their English counterparts – the same thing happened with the early reveal of the Japanese Pokémon: Twilight Masquerade set last month. There’s a bit of a longer wait for the Night Wanderer set, but collectors can already see some of what’s inside thanks to fan translators.
According to PokéBeach, an English version of the Night Wanderer set is due out in August, featuring some of the most prominent Pokémon ex from The Teal Mask expansion for Scarlet and Violet. The Japanese version of the Night Wanderer set was first revealed on May 3, 2024, at the Japanese Champions League. It’s due for release there on June 7. Since the next set to be released in Japan, July‘s Stellar Miracle set, will focus on Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, it looks like Night Wanderer is the last set focused solely on The Teal Mask.
Eight cards have been confirmed for the Pokémon TCG: Night Wanderer set so far. These include five Pokémon (including one Pokémon ex), one Tool, one Supporter, and one Stadium. These are all the cards revealed for the set during the Champions League. Some of these names rely on fan translations provided by PokéBeach, so their final English names may differ.
The set includes ex versions of the Loyal Three Pokémon who debuted in The Teal Mask: Okidogi, Fezandipiti, and Munkidori. It also includes an ex version of their leader, Pecharunt. Kyurem is a bit of an outlier, having first been introduced in Gen V. However, the Kyurem card from Night Wanderers features new art and an updated moveset. Trifrost does 110 damage to up to three Pokémon, and its ability, Anti-Plasma, reduces the cost of Trifrost if the opponent has a Colress card in their discard pile.
The Neutral Center Stadium card is also of particular interest, as it prevents any Pokémon without a Rule Box from taking damage dealt by the opponent’s Pokémon ex and Pokémon V. However, as the first Stadium ACE SPEC card to be printed for the game, players can only ever have one of these cards in their decks at a time.
That’s all there is to know about the Night Wanderer set for the time being, but additional cards will inevitably be revealed prior to its release. The full set will probably be released online after its Japanese release in June. But English-speaking Pokémon Trading Card Game collectors will probably have to wait until August to get their hands on any of these cards.
