Legendary record producer Olumide Ogunade, fondly called ID Cabasa, has expressed his thoughts on the rivalry in the Nigerian music industry between legends and young talent musicians.
Recall that Burna Boy was reprimanded by veteran singer Eedris Abdulkareem for his assertion that no Nigerian musician had opened the road for him in the music business.
As a result of this, the two artists engaged in a social media brawl, with Jaywon and some older artists supporting Abdulkareem while rising rapper OdumoduBlvck was seen siding with Burna Boy.
In the most recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, the veteran producer claimed that mutual recognition between oldies and new musicians is necessary for harmony to prevail in the Nigerian music scene.
He stated that both newcomers and legends should show respect for one another.
โThe new guys need to respect the OGs. The OGs need to be more honourable. You are not competing against these guys. If you see yourself as a competition to these guys, what youโve done is that youโve mortgaged your honour.โ He said.
The producer charged music icons to help youngstars rather than โbeing too criticalโ of them.
