What’s most interesting about this eulogy, however, is that Baker chose to write it from Echo’s perspective – though it makes a lot of sense.
Without Tech, Echo could not have been saved on Skako Minor, as it required the delicate process of unwiring him from the Techno Union’s systems. Tech was the first member of Clone Force 99 Echo saw during his rescue, and that no doubt established a special bond between the two. Echo is also the character that Baker has been voicing the longest out of the entire Bad Batch, with him originally being a part of the Domino Squad in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Clearly, this eulogy brought Baker his closure, and it could do the same for others.
While it’s understandable that Baker has kept Echo’s eulogy for Tech private, and that he certainly has the right to continue doing so, it could help The Bad Batch viewers receive the same kind of closure if they had a chance to read it for themselves. Echo is one of the most well-spoken and wisest clones there is, and there’s no doubt that would have translated to his eulogy for his fallen brother. The words he wrote could soften the blow of Tech’s tragic death that still hurts as badly as it did when it first happened.
This is the secret epilogue that audiences desperately need after Clone Force 99’s otherwise happy ending. Each member has received their own amount of perfect closure, with Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Omega living a peaceful life on Pabu while Echo continues to help Rex with their displaced clone brethren. With little closure for Tech and the way his sacrifice has affected his brothers, getting Echo’s eulogy for him would help The Bad Batch viewers immensely – and hopefully one day, they’ll get to see it for themselves.
