DC has revealed new details — and thrilling cover art — for the second full month of Absolute Power. The story’s main happenings take place in the Absolute Power event series by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, and Absolute Power #2 promises some major twists and turns for what’s left of the Justice League.
The Justice League takes brand-new shape in this second issue as DC’s greatest heroes — what’s left of them after Amanda Waller’s erasing of metahuman powers — unite as a singular resistance force at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. But more threats arise beyond Waller’s army of Amazos: this new, revolutionary iteration of the Justice League will be betrayed by one of their own, who joins up with the Trinity of Evil. The Justice League has been missing from the DCU since the end of DC’s 2022 event, Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths by Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere. After the League disbanded on good terms, DC’s main team has been the Titans; the heroes uniting for a resistance force at the Fortress will be a new kind of Justice League, then, one formed not just to battle alien threats and cosmic forces, but rather to resist governmental power and military force in the shape of Amanda Waller. Waller has united the so-called “Trinity of Evil,” including Failsafe and Brainiac Queen, and is using her army of Amazos to take down the world’s metahumans.
