The North Central All Progressive Congress, APC, Forum has called on professional bodies from the region, including lawyers, civil society organisations, journalists, among others to join hands together in the push to oust APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The call was made by the forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, while speaking with journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
He said several votes of no confidence have been passed on Ganduje from his Kano ward.
Zazzaga maintained that, “All we are doing is in the interest of the North Central region, and that is why we are calling for the professional bodies from the region to join hands with us.”
According to him, “We have pursued other good causes in other parties as well as those that are apolitical, which are for the betterment of the region, and not only APC causes alone.
“Therefore, anywhere we observe that the North Central region will be relegated to the background, short changed or cheated, we have always risen to its defence and advanced its causes.
“So all the good people of North Central, irrespective of political, professional, ethno-religious and other affiliation should join hands with this forum to push for the ouster of Ganduje so that a rightful person from our region can occupy the seat.”
Zazzaga, who was also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council in the last election, pointed out that the hearing of suit filed against Ganduje by the forum is coming up on 30th of May, 2024, and so all and sundry should support the forum in one way or another.
He further explained that, “Why we have been intensifying push for the zoning of the National Chairmanship position of the party to the region is not only because that position is well deserved by the region, but also owing to the zone’s contribution to the progress of the party and its victory in 2023 elections.”
The Forum further stated that the North Central’s tremendous support aidedbthe emergence of President Bola Tinubu and that the region has also delivered five governors for the APC out of the six states in the region.
“And so, as a ruling party which the region has helped in all ramifications, we cannot afford to fold our hands and let the position or other benefit accrued to the region to be highjacked or denied since there are many developmental things and benefits to be gotten or enjoyed from the ruling party”, he stressed.
