Former deputy governor of Oyo state, Gbolarumi Hazeem and other prominent Nigerians have received humanitarian awards from a non-governmental organisation, Rotary Club of Ibadan.
The award was bestowed on the awardees in recognition of their humanitarian services to their community.
The event was held on Thursday during the clubโs Award and Gala Night held at Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Awardees at the event include former deputy governor of Oyo state, Gbolarumi Hazeem, Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Isiaka Olagunju, Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Josiah Ajiboye, Director General Abuja and Lagos Liason office, Hon. Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Oyo state chapter, Chief Ndubiusi Okorie, Past President Rotary Club of Ibadan- Challenge and founder Akande Tunde Movement, Dr Kazeem Akande, Past President, Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho- Metro, Samuel Kolawole Chief Executive Officer, Omotayo Charity Foundation, Olapeju Agunbiade, Chief Executive Officer, Atinutobi Foundation, Kikelomo Idowu and Past Assistant Governor, Rotary Club of Ibadan, Isaac Ajibike among others.
Speaking with Tribune Online, the President, Rotary Club of Ibadan, Kolawole Shittu, explained that the awardees were honoured for their outstanding and selfless commitment to humanitarian services and uplifting the standard of living of the needy.
He stated that the award is categorized into 5, including Excellent Service Award, Exemplary Leadership Award, Humanitarian Service Award, Meritorious Service Award and Distinguished Service Award.
Shittu further stated that the awardees comprised members of the club who have contributed through their leadership in the club adding that the recognition was also given to non-members of the club who were selected for their support to Rotary in the provision of humanitarian service to the people.
โTonight we are having a gala night of awards and recognitions, we are recognizing those who have contributed to the course of Rotary, people who have helped in providing humanitarian services to people in their respective communities.โ
He, however, advised the awardees not to relent in their contributions to service to humanity.
