If you want to battle the Season of Blood boss, Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint in Diablo 4, you will need to get Living Steel to summon him. You will need two Living Steel to summon Grigoire in World Tier Three (Nightmare) and five in World Tier Four (Torment). However, getting even one Living Steel is quite challenging as you will need to get a unique currency first.
Apart from Grigoire, you can also battle other bosses, such as the Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4, as part of the Season 2 endgame additions. The best way to get Living Steel is from Tortured Gifts of Living Steel chests. These chests appear during Diablo 4’s Helltide event, which only occurs every two hours and fifteen minutes and lasts around an hour.
Anyone on World Tier 1 who has completed a campaign on their account can participate, and players must unlock the Helltides through a quest located in Kyovashad. The Tortured Gifts of Living Steel chests appear randomly in the open world during the event. You can use D4Armory to find out where specific chests spawn to make it faster.
When the Helltide is ongoing, the area affected will turn red on the map. If you kill any enemies in this event area, you will get Aberrant Cinders. This is a type of currency that you use to unlock chests you find during Helltide. To unlock the Tortured Gifts of Living Steel chests, you will need 275 Aberrant Cinders.
Additionally, with the introduction of Season 4 on May 14th, 2024, it is now possible to earn Living Steel from elite enemies in Diablo 4, although it is not guaranteed. Similarly, there is a chance that you will find the material in Whisper caches after completing Grim Favors. Even so, the best way to find Living Steel remains within Helltide Chests.
Of course, everyone is in search of Living Steel so they can fight the endgame boss, Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint in Diablo 4. Once you have two or more Living Steel, an “Hall of Penitent” icon will appear on your mini-map in the Dry Steppes area. You will have to fight to reach the Chamber of Penitence; however, you can drop your Living Steel in the Light-Touched Altar to summon and face Grigoire. It will be a challenging boss fight, but Tenkiei on YouTube has some tips for being able to defeat Grigoire.
Aside from that, regardless of your world tier, Grigoire will drop the Demonbinder Mount Armor and Penitent Greaves. On top of that, he will also drop various rewards tailored to the class you are playing, including the new items that were some of the changes for Season 2, including Twin Strikes, Saboteur’s Signet, Earthbreaker, Ebonpiercer, and Flameweaver. This can make it worth it to challenge Grigoire by using your Living Steel in Diable 4.
