Police in Niger State have arrested two suspects involved in ATM card swapping in Bida.
The suspects, who hail from Masaka in Nasarawa State, were found in possession of 42 stolen ATM cards.
According to a statement posted on his X handle, SP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for Niger State Police Command, the suspects claimed they were en route to Offa for a burial ceremony when they decided to make a stopover in Bida.
Abiodun stated that during the stopover, they engaged in fraudulent activities by stealing ATM cards from unsuspecting victims.
The statement reads, โTwo suspects arrested in Bida for ATM cards swapping/42 cards recovered.
โThe suspects came from Masaka, Nasarawa State and claimed that they were heading to Offa for a burial.
โThey decided to stop over at Bida to steal victims cards for fraud.โ
