American rapper and music executive, Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, has issued a public apology after a video showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel hallway four years ago, surfaced online.

In video footage obtained by CNN, Diddy repeatedly kicked and threw objects at Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in 2016.

Following the release of the video, Diddy took “full responsibility” for his actions in the video.

Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account on Sunday, May 19, Diddy admitted that his behaviour in the video was “inexcusable.”

In the 1:11 seconds video, Diddy said in part: “My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m so sorry.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has said it won’t prosecute Diddy over the assault video, despite public outcry stating that the incident is “beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”
