Veteran media practitioner, former Commissioner of Information and Communications and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari has aired her view concerning the ongoing political crises in her home state, Rivers between the camp of the former governor Nyesom Wike and that of Sim Fubara.
Speaking during a recent interview on Arise News’s “The Morning Show” with Dr. Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni and Ayo Mairo.
Mrs. Semenitari opined that when somebody has been elected as either governor or president, if he or she does well in office or nor, they should be allowed to function especially when there are instruments to determine if the person should stay on or be removed, but in the mean time, let the person govern.
According to her, an average Rivers State person is peaceful but speaking on the barrage of resignations in the state, she said, “If I appoint you as commissioner, you should serve at my pleasure in my cabinet” and if you can’t be loyal to the man who appointed you, then you are free to go where you can be loyal.
When asked by Rufai asked if its fair to say that it was FCT Emperor, Nyesom Wike causing all the political crises in the state, she said that if all fingers points towards a particular direction, then the people would on their own, conclude this is the man with the problem. As you can seen all the Commissioners that resigned were quoted by the media as being commissioner loyal to the FCT Minister and the same media tagged the 25 members of the house of assembly as lawmakers loyal to the FCT minister.
So, let Sim Fubara govern Rivers State in peace and wait for the time when the instruments of the constitution would be used to either remove him or make him stay but for now, let the Governor govern.
