The Federal High Court in Abuja, on the 22nd of May, 2024, ordered the remand of social media influencer and activist, Verydarkman, in police custody.
Edo State-born activist was arraigned by the Nigeria Police Force on five counts of cyberstalking.
However, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, but the prosecution requested more time to respond, prompting Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon to adjourn the bail hearing to 29th of May, 2024.
The prosecution sought to have the activist remanded in prison, but his lawyers requested that he remain in police custody.
The court granted this request, and he was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
In March 2024, Verydarkman was also remanded for a similar cyberbullying offense.
He has been a prominent and controversial figure since January of this year.
